With 35 years as a piano teacher, I now craft handmade obi remake items. Overcoming the challenges of Ménière’s disease during the pandemic, I found a new passion in creating obi bags. This creative process became my path to recovery and joy. Today, I reimagine the beauty of traditional kimono obi into modern designs, often feeling grateful to be Japanese as I work with these stunning textiles. At my shop, “Venus no Obi”, I offer unique creations that blend Eastern traditions with Western modernity. These pieces are more than accessories—they’re a cultural bridge. The term “Venus no Obi” comes from the beautiful natural phenomenon known as the “Belt of Venus” that weaves between the West and the East.
